In 2017, my son was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder at age 4 and couldn’t speak. On one occasion, he jumped on his bed for nearly 6 hours without taking a single break, another time he was so hyperactive that he severely hurt his arm but still couldn’t stay still and let the bone doctor check his shoulder for any fractures, very often his teacher reported him for hitting or distracting other kids. He couldn’t learn at age 5, he was still struggling with potty training and picky eating. One day, a colleague at the clinic invited me to join a support group of women in science with children with neurological disorders and in one of our weekly sessions, Aishatou , my best friend, came crying, her daughter was regressing after she started taking her prescriptions, her daughter’s gut health was failing and the medical bills were growing so much that she couldn’t afford to pay that month’s bill. Meanwhile, we had all tried everything from metal detox to chelation therapy to fancy brain therapies then to pills, injections, all kinds of gummies. There were no results. So, we decided to use our knowledge in the sciences to create something that can at least permanently support our children. It was honestly difficult because we couldn’t find the raw materials we needed and the shipping costs were so expensive. Fast forward, 3 years later, during the lockdown after we had completed our first round of clinical testing and volunteer human trials, we gifted 100 bottles to neurodivergent children around the world, the feedback was amazing. A year later, we received an award for our achievements and launched A+ to the world in February 22,2022.
